Mixed Reality & Demonstrator Design

A physical and mixed-reality demonstration
I designed and developed a mixed-reality cockpit demonstration for Elbit America, combining a physical demonstrator with a HoloLens 2 experience that I programmed. My scope included concept development, cockpit CAD, experiential design, interface content and exhibit graphics, including the marquee behind the ejection seat.
I coordinated the design around the seat, large-area display and HUD, and recommended materials and lighting for the presentation. Fabrication was handled separately.

Designing a flexible cockpit setting
I designed the physical cockpit as a non-aircraft-specific setting for Elbit America’s large-area display and HUD. This provided the physical foundation for a demonstration that could simulate flight in a selected aircraft.

Extending the design to the marquee
I designed the graphics on the marquee behind the ejection seat as part of the overall presentation. The graphic treatment connected the surrounding exhibit communication with the cockpit demonstration.

Integrating the display hardware
I designed the cockpit around the display hardware and its relationship to the seated participant. That spatial work informed the presentation of the large-area display and HUD while I developed the complementary headset experience.

Developing the physical design
I developed the cockpit’s physical form in CAD alongside the mixed-reality experience. This linked the participant’s position, display arrangement and surrounding environment with the content presented through HoloLens 2.

Coordinating the cockpit and display components
I coordinated the seat, surrounding structure and display hardware within the demonstrator design. My CAD and experiential work established their spatial relationship, while my graphics and programmed headset content connected the physical setting to the digital demonstration.

Communicating the physical design
I developed the cockpit design and CAD to communicate the proposed form and component arrangement. I recommended materials and lighting to support the experience, with fabrication handled separately.

Programming for HoloLens 2
I programmed the HoloLens 2 experience to simulate flight in a chosen aircraft. My work used the existing headset as a platform for the demonstration’s mixed-reality content.

Developing the simulated symbology
The headset experience presented symbology related to the Zero-G next-generation fighter helmet-mounted display. I programmed this digital layer to work as part of the cockpit demonstration, connecting interface content and the physical setting.
